New Delhi: Former India hockey participant and coach MK Kaushik died on Saturday after battling COVID-19 for the previous three weeks.

He was 66 and is survived by his son and spouse.

Kaushik, a member of the 1980 Moscow Olympics gold-medal profitable Indian crew, had examined optimistic for COVID-19 on 17 April and was admitted to a nursing house in New Delhi.

“He was shifted to ventilator this morning however handed away simply now,” his son Ehsan instructed PTI.

Kaushik had coached each the senior women and men’s groups. Beneath his teaching, India males’s crew gained a gold medal on the 1998 Asian Video games in Bangkok.

Additionally, Indian ladies crew had gained bronze medal on the Doha Asian Video games in 2006 beneath his teaching.

He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1998, earlier than being bestowed with the Dronacharya award in 2002.
