Bengaluru: Indian racer Akhil Rabindra’s second spherical efficiency on the European GT4 Championship 2021 was marred by technical glitches on the Circuit Paul Ricard in France.

The 24-year-old Bengaluru-born driver who can be the one Indian on the European GT4 Championships this season, completed at P16 within the silver class.

Akhil, driving an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for the AGS Occasions Racing staff, took to the drivers seat in Race 2 after he and his teammate Hugo Conde needed to retire after 16 laps in Race 1 as a consequence of engine points.

Akhil can be the one Asian to have made it to the Aston Martin Racing drivers academy in 2021, a feat that he has achieved for the third straight 12 months in a row.

Earlier, Akhil and Hugo needed to retire as a consequence of a defective engine in Race 1 after having certified at P14 within the qualifying race.

Race 1 noticed them finishing 16-laps in 38:29.167 minutes. Submit this, Akhil took the steering in Race 2, scripting a powerful run to complete P15 within the silver class.

Akhil accomplished Race 2 in 1:01:40.275 minutes on Sunday night to complete twenty ninth total from a grid of 41 vehicles.

Rabindra mentioned, “There’re loads of alternatives for us to enhance and we’ll be engaged on it. I, personally, have grasped loads and might’t wait to work on my shortcomings to higher my performances for the upcoming races now.”

The European GT4 Sequence now strikes to Circuit Zandvoort, Netherlands for Spherical 3 of the championship from 18-20 June.
